2. The evolution of secondary metabolites

  • Learn about the evolution of terpenes found in essential oils.
  • Over 700million years ago Algae began to form today‚Äôs seaweeds - flavonoids began to appear providing early antioxidant properties. Then 500 million years ago - a wide diversity of multi-cellular organisms began to appear on to the land. This created a need for the plant to protect itself from grazing animals and insects -¬†developing defensive secondary metabolites.

This lesson is in the form of notes only.

Review

"I must say how impressed I am with the new app which went live a couple of days ago. Intuitive in its use, it is really well designed and packed full of information. In fact its like carrying both your books in miniature! I especially like the way you can search by condition or by remedy. I am already using it and it will be my constant companion." Julia C
